A record that works both ways

How RentRecord works

One tenancy. Two perspectives. Four steps to a rental reputation built on an honest exchange.

  1. 01

    Create your profile

Register as a landlord, a tenant, or both. Your profile starts private; you decide whether to make it discoverable by name or postcode district.

    Landlords

Add your first property and start your landlord record.

    Tenants

Add your first tenancy and start your rental history.

  2. 02

Invite the other party by email

Add the tenancy address, the other party’s name and the email they use for RentRecord. The tenancy becomes visible to them when they sign in with that email.

    Landlords

Connect the tenancy to your tenant’s email address.

    Tenants

Connect the tenancy to your landlord’s email address.

Share an invitation yourself — RentRecord does not currently send an invitation email.

  3. 03

    Submit blind reviews

Each party submits their ratings and written review independently. You don’t need to submit at the same moment: both reviews are revealed together, only after both parties have submitted.

    Landlords

Review your tenant’s conduct during the tenancy.

    Tenants

Review your landlord and your rental experience.

While waiting, no scores, stars or review text appear in the sealed review view. Submitted reviews cannot be edited.

  4. 04

    Build your RentRecord score

Once both reviews unlock, the review you receive contributes to your score. Your score is averaged across the criteria in your unlocked reviews; sealed reviews never contribute.

    Landlords

Build a landlord reputation from your tenants’ unlocked reviews.

    Tenants

Build a tenant reputation and download your RentPassport to share.

Choose whether to show unlocked reviews publicly. Hiding public reviews also hides your public score.

An exchange, not an independent inspection

RentRecord records a two-party review exchange. It does not independently verify identities, property conditions or deposit-scheme records.
